Suspect in Shreveport murder case surrenders to Minden Police Department

In a tragic incident that unfolded on Wednesday, August 16, a domestic dispute at a residence within Shreveport’s Valencia subdivision resulted in the untimely death of Michelle Wells, a 53-year-old woman. According to the coroner’s report, Wells succumbed to gunshot wounds sustained during the altercation. She was rushed to a Shreveport hospital, where her passing was officially confirmed at approximately 5:30 PM.

Upon an investigation spanning several hours, law enforcement officials unveiled that the victim had been engaged in a heated dispute with her boyfriend, identified as Richard Spencer, aged 55. Detectives leading the case assert that Spencer shot Wells multiple times during the altercation.

Spencer voluntarily surrendered himself to authorities at the Minden Police Department on August 17. As a consequence of the ongoing investigation, Spencer has been formally charged with second-degree murder. He has since been transferred to the Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center, with the Shreveport Police Department duly informed of his custody status.
