A community time capsule will be created and buried as part of Minden’s 190th anniversary celebration, offering residents an opportunity to preserve a snapshot of life in 2026 for future generations.
The Greater Minden Chamber announced plans for the capsule, which will be buried Thursday, May 7, during the National Day of Prayer gathering at Jacqueline Park. The ceremony is scheduled for 7:30 AM and is intended to serve as a moment of reflection, unity, and hope for the future.
Businesses, residents, students, and organizations are invited to contribute items that represent present-day life in Minden. Suggested submissions include letters, photographs, and small keepsakes that help tell the community’s story.
All items must be submitted to the Chamber office by Friday, May 1.
Organizers said the time capsule will remain sealed until 2076, when it will be opened to provide a glimpse into the city’s past for a new generation of residents.
The public is encouraged to attend the May 7 ceremony and take part in the historic event.
