A routine traffic stop early January 29 resulted in multiple charges, including drug possession and outstanding warrants, according to the Webster Parish Sheriff’s Office.
At about 1:42 AM, a deputy observed a white Lincoln SUV traveling east on Industrial Drive toward Highway 531 without visible license plate information and initiated a stop. The driver told the deputy his driver’s license was suspended and provided identifying information, which dispatch confirmed along with two active warrants through the Minden Police Department.
With consent to search the vehicle, deputies found a clear plastic baggie containing a crystal-like substance between the center console and the passenger seat, authorities said. The substance field-tested positive for methamphetamine and weighed approximately 3.77 grams.
Austin Perkins, 30, of Minden, was taken into custody. Perkins was charged with failure to register a motor vehicle, no insurance, driving under suspension, possession of a Schedule II controlled dangerous substance and the two outstanding warrants.
All subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
