If you’re a football fan partial to teams from Webster Parish, Friday night in Springhill will feel like Christmas.
North Webster will host this year’s Pineland Jamboree, Friday August 29 at the Knights’ own Baucum-Ferrar Stadium.
Joining the Knights as guests on the gridiron are the Minden Crimson Tide, Lakeside Warriors and Haynesville Golden Tornado.
“We’re excited to be hosting it,” Knights head coach John Ware said. “It’s going to be a good crowd and a good gate. We had to move our jamboree, but we’ll under the home lights Friday night.”
The Knights will take on Lakeside.
The game matches Ware against his former defensive coordinator Jason Martin, now the head coach at Lakeside. The Warriors scrimmaged Homer last Friday and tied at two scores each, while North Webster also scrimmaged to a tie with Bastrop.
The Knights and Warriors will play in the nightcap. The action will start at 7 p.m. with a matchup between Minden and Haynesville.
Both teams enter 2016 with high hopes. Minden finished last season as the No. 7 team in Class 4A while Haynesville made it back to the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, falling in the 1A state championship game. Each team welcomed back the bulk of their starters.
The cost of admission is $8 at the gate.
