A fundraiser hosted by Under Dawgs Sports Grill on Saturday raised funds to support LaMa Animal Rescue’s efforts following a hoarding situation uncovered in Doyline last March.
Under Dawgs, located at 605 Main St., donated $1,566 from the event and an additional case of Dawn, bleach, and Milk Bones. Customers also contributed $120 in cash donations during the fundraiser.

“We were heartbroken about the animals in the Doyline hoarding situation. When I heard it was LaMa Animal Rescue who were on-site to help with rescuing these fur babies, I reached out to them. We wanted to help and offered to hold a fundraiser at Under Dawgs. I mean, the name says it all!” said Claudine Thomas of Under Dawgs.
The fundraiser was originally scheduled to run from 11 AM to 4 PM, but Thomas decided to extend the event through the evening. A share of each sale during that time was donated to LaMa Animal Rescue, with proceeds helping to pay for vaccinations, spay–neuter surgeries, feed, and ongoing medical care for the rescued animals, according to LaMa volunteers. The group is also working to arrange foster homes and adoptions for the animals.
“We are thankful for every customer who came on Saturday. We continue to be blessed and, in turn, try to give back when we are able,” Thomas said.
