The Minden All-Stars split games in the Diamond Youth Softball 15U World Series Friday in Laurel, Miss.
Minden started the day with a 13-4 victory over host Laurel-Jones County in the first round of bracket play. Minden then fell to Tri-Cities (Groveton, Texas) 14-4 in the winners’ bracket semifinals.
Minden faces Pleasant View, Tenn., Saturday at 10:45 a.m. in an elimination game. Minden defeated Pleasant View 5-0 Thursday in a pool play game.
If Minden wins, it will play the winner of an elimination game between between Perry Jr. League, Ga., and Pelion, S.C., at 2:15 p.m.
Team members are Ella Wood, Brayleigh Lewis, Erin Danzy, Lola Huddleston, Loralee Roberts, Kenzie Pamintuan, Mckinley James, Eastyn Paye, Emmaline Harmon and Rhea Waller.
Chase Huddleston and Marcus Harmon are the coaches. Peyton Wood is the bench coach.
According to its GameChanger site, Minden had nine hits against Laurel-Jones County. Lewis had two doubles and four RBI.
Waller had two hits, including a double, and two RBI. Pamintuan had two hits and an RBI.
Harmon and James had one double and one RBI each. Wood had a single.
Harmon and Waller scored three runs each. Lewis and James scored two. Wood, Pamintuan, Huddleston and Danzy all scored one.
Huddleston allowed two hits and struck out 10 in 4 1/3 innings.
Huddleston had two hits and two RBI against Tri-Cities. Harmon, Waller and Wood had one apiece.
Harmon, Waller, Wood and Pate all scored one run.
