Alexander takes Cotton Valley mayor’s seat

COTTON VALLEY — The Town of Cotton Valley has a new mayor.

Voters opted for change in the town after electing Joseph Alexander with 162 votes over incumbent Comerdis Phillips’ 136 votes, according to complete but unofficial results.

Alexander and Phillips, both Democrats, headed to a runoff election after neither clinched enough votes in the Nov. 7 primary against Lynn “Bubba” Guillot.

Joseph Alexander 162 votes or 54 percent
Comerdis Phillips  136 votes or 46 percent
