Scottish Tartan Festival coming April 7

Minden festival in its 17th year

The 17th Annual Scottish Tartan Festival is coming to Minden, Louisiana April 7.

The fesitval is a calabration of Scottish culture and heritage through living history exhibits including blacksmithing, weaving, spinning and broadsword demonstrations.

There will be Scottish Cattle herding, Clan Tents, Genealogy, and Bagpipe music.

Workshops of the day include an Outlander Round Table discussion, Gaelic Language, Scottish Witches and more.

There will also be a children’s area with hayrides, festival food, crafts and vendors and Celtic music by Cleghorn, Smithfield Fair, Jed Marum and Emerald Accent.

In addition, there will be performances by the Jackson Irish Dancers of Jackson, Miss., and Shreveport’s Port Belly Project belly dancers.
