A Minden man was arrested Thursday following an armed disturbance involving a lawn care crew at a residence in the 500 block of Quarles Street.
Officers with the Minden Police Department were dispatched to the scene around 10:20 AM on July 31 in response to a report of a man threatening a lawn crew with a shotgun and preventing them from leaving the property.
According to the complainant, he and his employees were mowing the yard when a man — later identified as Darrell Jackson, 50 — approached the crew. Jackson reportedly told them they were not allowed to mow “Wanda Ann’s” yard and that they were not allowed to return to Quarles Street.
The complainant stated that Jackson retrieved a shotgun from his residence and blocked their path, threatening to kill him and his crew if they tried to leave. The men attempted to exit in a work truck, but Jackson allegedly stood in the roadway with the firearm, preventing their departure. The men chose to remain at the scene and wait for police to respond..
The property owner who had hired the business to cut her grass, also witnessed the incident. According to police, she arrived to pay for the yard work and saw Jackson “talking crazy” to the crew while armed.
Officers documented the scene with photographs, including images of Jackson standing near the street with the shotgun. Jackson was charged with three counts of aggravated assault with a firearm and one count of false imprisonment.
All subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
