Man arrested in connection with reported burglary, dumpster incident

by Minden Press-Herald

A Minden man was arrested after being found inside a dumpster and later admitting to a reported burglary at a local business, according to a police report.

An officer on patrol along Shreveport Road near a restaurant observed a man inside a dumpster next to the business and made contact with him. The individual was identified as Gerald Beene, 69, of Minden.

Authorities said Beene had also been captured on surveillance footage entering a closed business in the area the previous night, where the owner had filed charges.

Beene was taken into custody and advised of his rights before being transported for booking. During questioning, Beene admitted to entering the business by using a pocket knife to pry open the door, according to the report. He told officers that after entering, an alarm was triggered and he left the scene.

The pocket knife allegedly used in the incident was collected as evidence.

Beene was charged with simple burglary.

All subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
