by Minden Press-Herald

A Minden man was arrested July 10 after a woman reported she was assaulted during an argument that began while the pair were traveling in a vehicle, according to a Minden Police Department report.

Police were initially dispatched at approximately 1 AM to a location on Walter Lyons Road after receiving a report that an injured woman had been dropped off there. Upon arrival, officers learned the location was outside the Minden city limits and contacted the Webster Parish Sheriff’s Office to assist.

Authorities later confirmed the woman had been transported to Minden Medical Center, where officers made contact with her.

According to the report, officers observed that the woman had a black eye, a bloody nose, and a cut lip.

The woman told police she, Henry James Ary, 31, and another individual had been leaving a family member’s home near the intersection of Pine and Azalea streets when an argument began. She alleged Ary, who was seated in the back seat while she was driving, struck her in the face.

After dropping off the third person, the woman said Ary took over driving and continued striking her while operating the vehicle.

According to the report, the pair later stopped at a residence on Walter Lyons Road, where the woman attempted to get out of the vehicle. She alleged Ary exited the vehicle, ran around to her side, and kicked her in the ribs.

The woman also told officers the group had been staying earlier that evening at a motel in the 1400 block of Sibley Road and believed Ary had returned there.

Officers responded to the motel, where management confirmed Ary was registered in one of the rooms and provided access. Police said they knocked several times, announced their presence, and entered the room when no one answered. Ary was found asleep and taken into custody without incident.

According to the report, Ary declined to provide a statement after being advised of his Miranda rights. Officers also offered him medical attention after observing what appeared to be blood on his clothing, but he declined treatment.

Ary was transported to the Minden Police Department for booking on one count of battery of a dating partner.

All subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
