Pair accused of stealing $4,000 from establishment
A couple accused of stealing $4,000 from a local casino is facing multiple charges.
Bryan Tippens, 27, of the 300 block of SE 2nd St. in Sibley was booked on charges of resisting by flight and felony theft.
His girlfriend, Roquila Brown, 31, of 1400 block of Lewisville Road was booked on the same charges.
Deputies were called to Chasing Aces Casino in Dubberly early Friday morning after the money was reported missing.
Deputy Marshall Meritt made contact with the pair at Tippens’ home in Sibley Friday afternoon.
The two were outside of the home when Meritt arrived at the home. When he asked the two come speak with him, Brown reportedly said “hang on officer” and ran inside the home. Tippens reportedly said he needed to turn his mom’s stove off and ran inside too.
Merritt made contact with the two at the door of the home and placed them under arrest.
After questioning the two, Tippens reportedly told the deputy he met Brown at the casino, which she worked at, and took the $4,000 from her. He also told the deputy the two planned to take the money, according to the arrest affidavit.
He then also told the deputy that he helped her steal the money, but would only admit to it if he “got a break on his charges,” the report said.
Brown reportedly told Meritt she ran into the home to hide the money because she was scared.
Deputies located $3,960 during a search of the home. Tippens reportedly told deputies he spent $40 of the money.
Both were booked into Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center.
