Funeral services for Alvin Darrel Smith will be held Friday, November 29, 2019 at 2 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel in Minden Louisiana with Rev. Dee Anders officiating. Interment will follow at Point Chapel Cemetery in Doyline, Louisiana. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time Friday at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel.
Alvin was born December 14, 1930 in Ashland, Louisiana and entered into rest November 26, 2019 in Arcadia, Louisiana. He was a member of Point Chapel Assembly of God.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Swain Smith, sister, Elise Smith Davis, brothers, D.D. “Bud” Smith and Maurice “Cotton” Smith.
He is survived by his son, Charles Wayne Smith of Ringgold, step-sons, Eddy Swain of Doyline and Bryan Swain of Kenner, stepdaughters, Edwardene Johnson of Shreveport, Cathy Stephens of Dubberly and Renae Burrell of Dubberly, sister, Evelyn Smith Walden of Dixie Inn, grandchildren, Justin Smith, Holli Ross, Kyle Swain, Casey Corley, Kelli Wood, Dustin McKenzie, Brooke Smith, Jodi Reeves, Savanah Swain, Shelby Swain, Elizabeth Bailey, Jennifer Smith and Johnnie Smith, a number of great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, special nephews, Kenny and Allen Smith and special friend, Iva Miller.
Pallbearers will be Dustin McKenzie, Jesse Smith, Casey Corley, Kyle Swain, Ronnie Sale, and Jack Stephens.
The family would like to say thanks to Amedisys Hospice, Claiborne Memorial Medical, and Willow Ridge Nursing Home for the outstanding care that was provided.
