A prayer vigil will be held in memory of Joe Cornelius, Sr., on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at 6 PM at Mt. Zion CME Church, located at 414 E. Union St. in Minden. The community is invited to gather in prayer and remembrance of Cornelius, a beloved former Minden mayor, city councilman, and Ward Marshal, who was tragically killed alongside his daughter, Keisha Miles.
The vigil will provide an opportunity for family, friends, and local residents to come together to honor Cornelius’s legacy of service to the city and support the family during this difficult time.
Mayor Nick Cox and Police Chief Jared McIver previously expressed the community’s grief over the loss. “Joe Cornelius was more than just a public servant. He was a committed leader who dedicated many years to the City of Minden,” Mayor Cox said at a recent press conference.
