A 26-year-old man was arrested Monday evening after police discovered methamphetamine in his possession during a routine patrol.
The incident occurred on November 18, when an officer observed Alexander Gonzalez walking on the wrong side of West Street. The officer initiated contact with Gonzalez and conducted a pat-down for weapons.
According to police, Gonzalez consented to a search of his person. During the search, the officer located 1.2 grams of methamphetamine in Gonzalez’s left pocket. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Minden Police Department for booking.
Gonzalez informed officers he was on probation. Police notified his probation officer, who requested a probation and parole hold be placed on him.
Gonzalez faces charges of possession of a Schedule II controlled substance (methamphetamine) and being a pedestrian on a highway. He remains in custody pending further proceedings.
All subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
