A traffic stop on Homer Road on November 14 resulted in multiple arrests after officers discovered open alcoholic containers and unruly behavior from vehicle occupants.
The incident began around 4:30 PM when a black SUV failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Southridge Drive and Homer Road. An officer initiated a traffic stop and made contact with the driver. The driver complied with all instructions and exited the vehicle for better communication.
During the interaction, the vehicle’s front passenger, identified as Paul Winzer, 50, of Homer, and the rear passenger, identified as Tameika Gage, 23, of Dallas, Texas, repeatedly interrupted the officer.
While speaking with the driver, the officer noticed open alcoholic containers in the front cup holders. The containers, which appeared to be from a drive-through daiquiri shop, had been opened, and straws were inserted. When the officer requested the containers, Winzer argued, claiming the drinks “come open.”
Winzer was ordered out of the vehicle, placed under arrest, and read his rights.
As backup arrived, Tameika Gage exited the vehicle despite being instructed to stay inside. She was also placed in handcuffs and arrested after allegedly resisting officers.
According to police, Winzer was charged with possession of alcoholic beverages in a motor vehicle. Tameika Gage faces charges including aggravated assault on a peace officer, resisting an officer, possession of alcoholic beverages in a motor vehicle, and being a fugitive from an outside agency.
No injuries were reported during the incident.
All subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
