The Minden Crimson Tide scored a run in the top of the 11th to defeat the Lakeside Warriors 4-3 in Game 2 of their three-game series Friday night at Lakeside.
Topher Wilson, Bray Winston and Jacob Jefferson drew consecutive walks with one out. Landon Brewer’s sacrifice fly scored the go-ahead run.
Barron Bower sat the Warriors down in order in the bottom of the inning, inducing a flyout, popout and groundout.
The Tide scored two runs in the sixth to tie the game at 3.
Minden loaded the bases in the too of the seventh but Gage Williams induced a flyout.
Lakeside had a chance to score in the bottom of the inning but catcher Hudson Brown tagged out a runner on a throw from right fielder Kyler Ray.
Both teams had scoring opportunities in the next three innings but couldn’t take advantage.
Lakeside loaded the bases with no outs in the bottom of the 10th. But Minden turned a double play and Bower got a strikeout to send the game into the 11th.
Both teams got stellar pitching performances. Minden starter Jaxon Smith scattered seven hits in 8 1/3 innings. He struck out eight and walked two.
Bower pitched 2 2/3 innings for the win. He allowed one hit and walked only one.
Lakeside’s Williams went 8 2/3 innings. He allowed five hits, struck out five and walked three.
Minden’s Winston went 2-for-5. Brewer had a double and two RBI.
Lakeside’s Drake Chreene went 2-for-4 with a double. Williams went 2-for-4. Bryson Finley went 2-for-5 with two RBI.
Minden (6-1) and Lakeside (2-6) are scheduled to complete the series Saturday at 1 at Griffith Stadium.
Elsewhere, Glenbrook fell to Calvary Baptist 4-2 in Shreveport.
The Apaches had eight hits. Carson Powell went 2-for-3 with a double. Starting pitcher Noah Martin went 2-for-3.
Martin struck out two and walked two in two innings. He allowed one hit and two earned runs.
Darron Hollingsworth didn’t allow an earned run in three innings. He gave up two hits, struck out one and walked two. Powell struck out two in one inning.
Glenbrook (1-7) hosts Providence Classical Academy Monday at 5.
