Locals learn about finances

by Minden Press-Herald

Next Generation Minden hosted a Financial Planning Seminar Tuesday at Orleans on Main. Speakers including Certified Financial Planner, Andy Pendergrass explained goals to have for several decades of life from 20-year-olds to people in their 60s.

The presentation included advice like “spend less than you make,” for people in their 20s and “pay cash for everything,” for people in their 40s.

Pendergrass also explained to the group that if a person invested $10,000 into the S&P 500 in 2006, it would be worth $28,516 today.

Guests were served dinner and received financial books as prizes.
