by Minden Press-Herald

A man was arrested February 21 after allegedly stealing a vehicle and accessing a Cash App account without permission, according to a Minden Police Department report.

Officers were dispatched around 1:23 AM to the 900 block of Claiborne Street in reference to a stolen vehicle. The complainant told police she woke up and discovered her 2006 Chevrolet Malibu was missing.

She reported that her boyfriend, Jesse Booth, 33, had gone through her cellphone while she was asleep and intentionally accessed her Cash App account without consent. The account was linked to her father’s bank account, police said.

According to the report, four $200 transactions were transferred from her father’s bank account to the Cash App account. Officers also observed a memo on one of the transactions that read, “For: saw everything on Facebook and Instagram.”

The woman told police Booth did not have permission to use the vehicle and had threatened to leave it in the Walmart parking lot or intentionally wreck it if she contacted authorities. She also reported that WIC documents, Chime and food stamp cards, and her children’s Social Security cards were inside the vehicle.

The vehicle information was entered into the National Crime Information Center database as stolen, and the case remains under investigation.

At approximately 9:43 AM, officers returned to the Claiborne Street residence and took Booth into custody.

Booth was charged with felony theft of a motor vehicle, felony access device fraud, and two bench warrants.

All subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
