Volunteers from across Minden spent the week working to make the city cleaner and more beautiful as local participation in Love the Boot Week concluded with a successful City-Wide Clean Up Day on Saturday.
Numerous groups turned out during the week for litter pickup and beautification projects, spreading across the city to collect trash and debris from roadsides, public spaces, and other areas in need of attention.

Before volunteers began their work, Minden Mayor Nick Cox thanked those gathered for dedicating their time to improving the community.
“We have a beautiful city, and all of you are dedicated to making sure it looks good, and it means a lot to everyone. I hope y’all have a good day. It really tickles me to death to see this many people on such a beautiful gloomy day. Thank you sincerely, and we’re going to get out here and love our city and love the ‘Boot’ by doing so,” Cox said.

Crews then dispersed throughout Minden, where organizers said they found no shortage of litter and discarded trash as they worked.
The week’s activities culminated Saturday with the City-Wide Clean Up Day held at the Webster Parish Fairgrounds. The event gave residents an opportunity to dispose of unwanted household items. Trustees from Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center assisted throughout the event by unloading trailers and vehicles into waiting dumpsters.

Organizers said the strong turnout throughout the week demonstrated the community’s shared commitment to maintaining a cleaner and more welcoming city. Love the Boot Week is designed to bring communities together across Louisiana to improve local environments and encourage civic pride.
