Northwest Louisiana Technical College (Northwest LTC) – Minden Campus will host Women in the Workforce 2018 Conference, Tuesday, June 26 through Thursday, June 28 located at 9500 Industrial Drive, Minden Louisiana.
The free, three-day event is designed to introduce women to the careers and opportunities available in the region with particular attention to career fields historically dominated by males but now open to women. Each day, the conference will run from 8am-11:30am. The conference is open to women from high school age and up.
”The conference is designed for all women, unemployed and underemployed, high school or college age, veterans – who are seeking a well-paying career,” said DeDe Griffith, Northwest LTC, Chief Academic and Student Affairs Officer. “We intend to provide a hands-on learning experience for women seeking employment for the first time and to those already employed seeking to advance in their career path.
“There are many challenging, well-paying career positions available in the Northwest region of Louisiana – many employers are looking for trained women to hire,” said Earl Meador, Director of Northwest LTC.
Participants will hear from other women who work in different industry sectors and will have hands-on laboratory experiences including Welding, Industrial Maintenance, Advanced Manufacturing, Industrial Instrumentation, Heavy Equipment Operation, Commercial Truck Driving, and others. Attendees will have the opportunity to talk with Northwest LTC Student Success Specialists and faculty about short-term training programs, college enrollment, financial aid, and other training-related issues.
Do you need a high school diploma? Attendees will learn about multiple pathways available at Northwest LTC to earn their high school diploma while learning a trade and earning college credit.
