Two arrested in Cotton Valley while deputies served felony warrant

by Minden Press-Herald

Two people were arrested January 14 after detectives and patrol deputies with the Webster Parish Sheriff’s Office attempted to serve a felony arrest warrant at a residence in the 100 block of Resident Street in Cotton Valley.

Deputies went to the home at about 5:37 PM to serve an arrest warrant issued through Bienville Parish for Jaycee Davis, 35. Upon arrival, deputies reported seeing two small children inside the residence, along with a woman and a man who moved toward the rear of the house.

According to the report, Ashley McLain, 42, later came to the door and told deputies that Davis was not inside the residence and that only she and the children were present. Deputies entered the home to search for Davis and located him hiding on top of a refrigerator. What at first appeared to be a revolver was also found on top of the refrigerator, but deputies later determined it was a BB gun.

Deputies outside the residence reported that McLain made statements to the children indicating concern for Davis during the incident. “They are going to kill him,” she was reported to have said. Investigators stated that McLain assisted in concealing Davis and provided false information about his presence inside the home.

Davis was taken into custody and charged as a fugitive from Bienville Parish. McLain was arrested and charged with accessory after the fact. Arrangements were made for the children, and both individuals were transported to the BDCC for booking.

All subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
