Linda Gale Berry, 78, of Minden, Louisiana, passed away from Covid complications on Saturday, January 16, 2021.
She was born September 24, 1942 in Minden, Louisiana to Searcy and Odessa Barnes.
She is preceded in death by her son, Dr. Michael F. Berry; her parents, Searcy Barnes and Odessa Barnes Raudabaugh; her in-laws, Fred H. and Nobie Berry; and her brother, Searcy Barnes Raudabaugh.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Fred Berry. Other survivors include her son, Dr. Brent Berry and his wife Nancy, and their daughter Brittany Bigby and husband Hayden, and son, Nicholas Berry of Bossier City, Louisiana; daughter-in-law, Melissa Johnson Berry of Bentonville, Arkansas and her three children, Meredith, Matthew, and Molly; her brother, Eddie Raudabaugh and wife Brenda of Blanchard, Louisiana; and numerous dear friends.
Linda graduated from Minden High School in 1960 and attended Northwestern State University where she graduated with a B.S. in Nursing. Upon graduation, she did various jobs in nursing, including Home Health and working at Minden Medical Center where she retired in 1997.
Linda was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She participated in many clubs including the Junior Service League, Minden Book Club, Garden Club, and Birthday Club.
She loved flowers and working in her yard and was an avid gardener and member of Master Gardeners. Linda was a devote Christian and loved her church, the First United Methodist Church of Minden. She enjoyed being in numerous Bible studies.
She was a wonderful cook and loved sharing her food and doing for others. Linda was definitely a people person and enjoyed playing cards with her many friends. One of her favorite things to do with Fred was to sit outside on the deck and watch the deer on the golf course. Linda was also an animal lover and on occasions came home with strays.
Her family meant everything to her and she was loved so much by them. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Donations may be made to First United Methodist Church of Minden or charity of choice.
Because of safety concerns during Covid, only graveside services will be held at Gardens of Memory on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden, Louisiana. Services will be conducted by Rev. Brian Mercer and Dr. Jack Odell.
