Organizers of the upcoming Phillip’s Cottage 5K are urging businesses to sign on as sponsors before the March 27 deadline, emphasizing the need for additional support to help expand the impact of the event.
The race, scheduled for Saturday, April 25, will benefit Phillip’s Cottage, a Minden-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides transitional housing for women with children graduating from Louisiana Adult & Teen Challenge. Proceeds support the residents, maintain the home and property, and fund ongoing operations.
Organizers say sponsorships play a key role in sustaining and growing the effort. “Our upcoming Phillip’s Cottage 5K right here in Minden, Louisiana, is about more than a race,” Sara McDaniel said in a statement. “It’s about helping us continue to pour into Phillip’s Cottage, a transitional home for women with children who need a safe place to land and begin again.”
Businesses are encouraged to participate as sponsors to help move the mission forward, with organizers noting that community support makes a direct impact on families served by the home.
The event will begin and end at Phillip’s Cottage, located at 217 W. Union St. The fun run will start at 8:00 AM, followed by the 5K at 8:15 AM. Participants can choose to run or walk, and a “sleep-in supporter” option is available for those who wish to contribute without attending.
Registration for the 5K is $25 through April 7, which includes a T-shirt, and $30 from April 8 through race day. Sleep-in supporters can register for $30 by April 7 to receive a T-shirt by mail. The fun run registration fee is $15.
Packet and T-shirt pickup will be held at Phillip’s Cottage on Thursday, April 23, from 10 AM to 1 PM, Friday, April 24, from 4 PM to 6 PM, and on race day beginning at 7:00 AM.
Awards will include cash prizes for the top overall male and female finishers in the 5K, along with trophies for first- and second-place runners in each age group, ranging from 14 and under to 70 and older.
In addition to sponsorship opportunities, community members are encouraged to participate in the event or support the cause in other ways. “If you’ve been looking for a way to support something meaningful in our community, this is a great place to start,” McDaniel said.
