Jealousy-fueled disturbance ends in felony arrest

by Minden Press-Herald

A Minden man was arrested Friday night after allegedly forcing his way into a home and later confronting a couple in what police described as a domestic-related disturbance stemming from a “jealous love triangle.”

Around 8:42 PM October 17, officers were dispatched to the 1200 block of Tillman Drive following reports of an ongoing disturbance, according to Minden Police.

Witnesses said the incident began after Matthew Bowers, 37, repeatedly called his ex-girlfriend, who was out to dinner with her husband. When the couple returned home, Bowers allegedly pulled up behind them, approached the husband, and shoved him while trying to reach the woman inside the vehicle.

According to statements from the couple, Bowers threatened to kill both of them during the confrontation. The husband’s mother, who was at the residence earlier that evening, told officers that Bowers had already come to the house, forced his way inside without permission, and briefly entered the living room before leaving.

The woman told police Bowers has called, texted, and emailed her “30-plus times per day” since their relationship ended months ago, and that he has refused to leave her alone. She also said she repeatedly asked him to stop during Friday’s altercation, reminding him that her young child was in the back seat of the vehicle.

Bowers was arrested and charged with unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling, stalking, and simple battery.

All subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
